Full registration with Allied Health Professions Council (A1301639Z)

Main Specialty Areas: Literacy (Reading/Writing), Communication, Voice and Stuttering

Huilin has more than 14 years of experience as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT). She is a multilingual therapist and conducts her sessions predominantly in English or Mandarin.

In 2008, Huilin graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology)(First Class Honours). Her curiosity about communication led her to completing her research thesis on "Post Treatment Speech Naturalness in English-Mandarin Bilingual Singaporeans who Stutter", which was presented at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Conference.

Huilin has specialised as a paediatric SLT for the majority of her career. She worked with adults and teenagers in public hospitals before focusing on supporting children with developmental and communication concerns. She has provided individual and/or group therapy for preschoolers, school-aged children and adolescents in Singapore and Australia. Locally, she has provided therapy for students from local and international schools (such as GESS, Dover Court, UWCSEA, Tanglin Trust School, Mindchamps, Rainbow Centre, Fei Yue Early Intervention Centre, Pathlight School, St. Andrew's Autism Centre). She can be found providing assessments or intervention in schools, clinics, homes and sometimes in playgrounds. Her main areas of interest are literacy, stuttering, voice and developing communication skills through play.

Huilin is a firm believer that children are empowered through play and parents can enable their children to learn through play. It is through play that children and adults develop the building blocks to participate in activities of everyday life, in and out of the classroom. She looks forward to working collaboratively with families and professionals to support their children to live life to the fullest.

As a mother of two young children, Huilin can relate to the struggles and joys of watching children grow and thrive. Together, they often sing while exploring nature on wheels or on foot. Huilin is also an avid reader and loves culinary adventures. In her free time, she sings in an award-winning choir and participates in choral performances and festivals. She is fluent in basic Japanese and is currently learning French.
